I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my second child and I'm inviting you to follow along as I share my pregnancy journey.
My daughter Zoe, was born in 2010 so it has been some time since I've experienced pregnancy, however as the weeks quickly pass the memories are flooding back. I'm excited to be sharing this experience with her; she is so engaged by the changes in me and is eager to learn about the baby's development. She is very excited to meet her baby brother...yes, it's a boy!
After becoming a mother, I was keen to tackle common mother/baby/household complaints through my knowledge of essential oils. I wanted to put into practice the tips & tricks I had learned to overcome some of the issues we encountered and by doing so I developed Maison Apothecare, Sleepy Owl and Lemon Aide. As my pregnancy progresses I look forward to sharing these tips and tricks with you.
Let me begin with Sleepy Owl Baby, my personal favourite for babies, toddlers and even adults with sensitivities. If Sleepy Owl were a person, she would be the wise, kind, caring maternity nurse who is nurturing and a confident caregiver for both mother & child. The basis of this line is German Chamomile, also known as Blue Chamomile, an anti-inflammatory essential oil that contains azulene, a naturally-occurring chemical that works to reduce inflammation.
The colour of German Chamomile is a beautiful shade of blue, which is strange because the flower it originates from is white. As essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin, their benefits can go beyond just superficial applications.
After my daughter was born, she developed mild colic and eczema. I began blending a base of avocado oil from my kitchen with some German chamomile to massage onto her tender belly. And despite her belly turning a slight shade of blue, she experienced immediate relief! I then applied the mixture to the small patches of eczema, which disappeared within days and never returned.
The remedy I developed for Zoe is now the Sleepy Owl Baby's Blue Oil, a staple in our medicine cabinet. My daughter knows how and when to use it along with all the other therapeutic products from my lines, which I will share with you on this journey.
Her bedside table is a mini apothecary containing pillow sprays, salves, oils & balms. It's possible that my obsession with therapeutic oils has turned my daughter into a bit of a hypochondriac...
I look forward to continuing this journey with you and I'm excited to share my knowledge along the way.
Thank you for following and stay tuned for more posts to come!
